Ridesharing, aid or hassle!

July 17, 2018 00:00:00

Ridesharing in Bangladesh works on a peer-to-peer driver-partner concept where drivers partner up with a particular sharing company like Uber, Pathao, OBhai etc to provide potential customers with rides depending on necessity. A ride, of late, has become a cup of cake due to the availability of smartphone apps, convivial media, GPS navigation contrivances etc.

But people often face difficulties due to inexperienced and untrained drivers in the ridesharing sites. However, the most common drawback is the lack of extra helmet for the passenger on a bike, thanks to riders' indifference.

Especially in the rainy season, passengers are not provided with raincoat or any other adjunct to cope with the drizzling rain while on bike rides. Likewise, it can be troubling for customers to travel utilising Pathao or UberMoto amidst the dust, polluted air and noise from the city roads.

Due to the absence of any legal framework for the type of motorcycle sharing accommodations in the country, the riders are often seen to be at odds with the local law enforcers -- causing delays and resentments by passengers in most cases.
