Saving endangered tigers

IT is sad that in the land of legendary Royal Bengal Tigers, we are now left with only a little over a hundred of them and if effective steps are not taken on an urgent basis, they may disappear soon altogether. The global Tiger Day is observed to create awareness about saving the declining number of tigers around the world. Tiger, a member of the largest cat species, is truly an endangered animal in the world now with a decreasing trend. None of the Tiger Conservation Landscapes within the Bengal Tiger's range is considered large enough to support an effective population size of 250 adult individuals. Since 2010, it is listed as Endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. In 2015, it was estimated that 103 Bengal tigers were living in angladesh. Tiger is also the national animal of Bangladesh.

The mortality rate of tigers is very high, around 50 per cent. We must protect these tigers from being totally extinct. It is a part of the biodiversity in our nature and therefore it is our duty as conscious citizens to protect the tigers and create awareness in support of tiger conservation issues.
