Taking care of our heart

April 25, 2018 00:00:00

HEART is a muscular organ in our body which pumps blood through the blood vessels of the circulatory system. It circulates about 2,000 gallons of blood every day. It is a vital organ that requires continuous care to keep us alive. Any problem with the heart is life-threatening as a heart attack is a leading cause of death in the world today. Every year roughly 20 million people die from heart attacks which account for three out of every ten deaths. Heart attack means the death of a part of the heart muscles caused by the loss of blood supply. We can avoid this problem by incorporating a few good health habits in our everyday routine and some regular daily exercises that reduce the risks of fatal heart diseases. If we live an active life, it will help us have better health condition, maintain weight and reduce our chances of developing conditions that may put pressure on our hearts, and develop high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Regular moderate work-out helps us reduce stress, which may be a leading factor in heart diseases. We do not need to go to the gym for regular workouts. A moderate schedule of free hand exercises and an active life style will help us reduce not only the chances of heart attacks but will also help us stay away from many other deadly diseases. Buddha rightly said, "To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear."
