Teachers working without salaries
July 24, 2019 00:00:00
A Bangla daily has reported that some 400 teachers appointed by the Non-government Teachers' Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) have not been getting salaries ever since their appointments six months back. The jobs of these teachers are yet to come under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.
These are the junior teachers of the primary schools attached to high schools. NTRCA appointed them in February. To get MPO facility, these teachers have been knocking at the regional offices of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE). As they did not hear anything encouraging from that office, they are now approaching the head office of DSHE in Dhaka.
The problem has occurred due to a lack of co-ordination between NTRCA and DSHE when these teachers were appointed.
These teachers have been facing extreme financial hardship. I would like to urge both NTRCA and DSHE to sit together in order to urgently resolve the issue and arrange the salaries of these men and women, as soon as possible.
Teachers sacrifice a lot for their students. They should not be affected in such a manner. The hardships of teachers will give a wrong message to the future generations of this country.
