Tigers' meek surrender to the Afghans

June 07, 2018 00:00:00

AFGHANISTAN gave no chance to the Tigers and wrapped up the 3-match T20 series by a 2-0 margin with a game in hand. It was a bitter pill to swallow for us as the young Afghans guided their team to their first T20I series win over a Test side other than Zimbabwe.

Rashid, Nabi, and Mujeeb, three spinners did the main damage and together they claimed six wickets for 46 runs in 12 overs to run through the fragile batting line-up of Bangladesh.

Rashid Khan was the chief wrecker with the ball, bagging four wickets for just 12 runs in four overs as Afghanistan restricted the Tigers to a paltry 134 runs for eight wickets.

It was a very disappointing performance for the Tigers as they looked like a pale shadow of their past when they beat teams like India, Pakistan, Australia, and South Africa. Bangladesh lacked passion and aggression. It seemed like they lost the match even before it began. The series defeat against Afghanistan should be an eye-opener for us to return to our old form at the earliest.
