Traffic jam: Costly for the nation

May 16, 2018 00:00:00

WHENEVER state dignitaries or VIPs move from one place to another, things in the surrounding areas come to a halt. Although it is done so on security ground, it creates undue pressure on the traffic system and the commuters are stuck in gridlocks. VIPs can move by aircrafts to avoid congestions, but the luckless commuters are left to face the music. We have learnt from recent media reports that soon flying-car will be launched which will be able to fly if necessary. In view of the state of congestion these days I do not foresee any relief from the situation until those flying cars are introduced on our roads. It is high time we remove slow-moving rickshaws from our city as they create traffic jams in the metropolitan areas. They should be replaced by comfortable public buses, cabs, and three wheelers.

With slow moving vehicles like the rickshaws, we cannot add speed to our life. We should also cut down the number of private cars as they occupy lot of space and carry few passengers. With unending traffic jam, we lose millions of working hours and the total financial costs thereof are exorbitant. Let us reduce traffic jam by enforcing a set of rules governing traffic movement in the country and add speed to our lives.
