VAT consultant examination

LIKE any other nation of the world VAT is one of our principal sources of revenue. Our National Board of Revenue (NBR) sets a goal for collecting VAT. But smooth collection of VAT is found difficult due to lack of VAT consultants. At present the number of VAT consultants is only 75 which is grossly inadequate in terms of requirement. These consultants are selected on the basis of VAT consultant examination.

This examination was last held in 2012. Understandably, it is difficult for people to get VAT consultancy assignments without VAT consultancy licence. This licence also helps reduce the pressure on unemployment greatly. But intending candidates like me have been waiting for the examination to be held since 2012. We request the NBR to please take necessary steps to hold the examination immediately and also to make sure that such examinations are held at least once every year.
