Winter, a blissful time

Winter is the best time to enjoy some comfortable moments in Dhaka. This year the heat of winter has been raised because of the upcoming election. Summertime is the harshest time for the Dhakaits when they endure load shedding, sweltering heat, water shortage etc. We, however, always experience traffic gridlock no matter what the season is. But in the winter traffic jam is more tolerable because of little sweating. Winter brings much-wanted respite from all of these. On the top of it, in winter, we enjoy fresh vegetables, winter cakes, date juices. I though don't see many vendors selling date juice as I used to see two decades back - and it was my favourite drink during winter time. Also, how can one forget the endless list of wedding functions for which we get to meet our friends and family? One wedding brings with it at least 3 to 4 functions. Winter time is also time for a picnic and we see during the weekend busloads of people leaving Dhaka for spending some time with their friends and family in nature. Winter is the best time to arrange all types of fairs. Winter is also time to be hopeful, optimistic and remember a quote "Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter/ who would think that those branches would turn again green and blossom/ but we hope it, we know it"
