Women and education

May 30, 2018 00:00:00

WE cannot expect desired progress keeping half of our population i.e., women, in the dark. Particularly in rural Bangladesh, women lag behind in education as most parents still believe that education is not essential for girls and they should at best be allowed to complete their primary level. We cannot expect a truly progressive Bangladesh without educating our women folk. The government has been encouraging female education by providing facilities like allowances, stipends etc. Female education should be further encouraged through different media campaigns so that common people realise its significance in furthering the development of the country. It is high time we took effective steps to ensure education for girls so that they can become worthy citizens when they grow up. It is well known that only an educated mother can build an educated nation.
