Zimbabwe stun BD in first Test

November 08, 2018 00:00:00

Visiting Zimbabwe stunned hosts Bangladesh by winning their first away Test match in 17 years at the newly-unveiled Test venue - Sylhet International Stadium on November 6. By winning the match, the Zimbabweans took an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-Test series.

This defeat on home soil is quite embarrassing for the hosts. In the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Test ranking, Bangladesh was on 9th position while Zimbabwe was 10th. Kudos to the Zimbabweans for winning this tour match. They played really well and came out on top after handing the home team an embarrassing 151-run defeat within three and a half days. The Tigers failed to put up a decent fight and virtually had a meek surrender. During certain parts of the match, it seemed that the Bangladeshi batsmen were playing Zimbabwean spinners on a foreign ground. It's time for the Tigers to do some soul-searching prior to their next match that starts on November 11.

I hope the Bangladesh team will be able to regroup and bounce back from this moral-shattering defeat. They should level the series in the next game.
