600m of Padma Bridge now visible as 4th span installed

MUNSHIGANJ, May 13 (UNB): Around 600-metre area of Padma Bridge is now visible following the installation of 4th span on pillar no 40 and 41 on Sunday.

The span has been installed in the Jajira point in the morning.

Earlier on Saturday afternoon, the span was brought to the point from Mawa construction yard.

The work of Padma Multipurpose Bridge became visible with the installation of a 150-metre first span on the pillars no 37 and 38 on October 30.

The construction work on the country's largest bridge started in December in 2015.

The 6.15-km bridge will have a total of 41 spans, each 150 metres long.

According to the engineers concerned, a total of 41 spans will be installed on 42 concrete pillars.
