A helicopter carrying Kuwait's military chief of staff Lieutenant-General Mohammad Khaled Al-Khuder and his entourage crashes in Sreemangal on Wednesday.

A helicopter carrying Kuwait's military chief of staff crashed in Bangladesh Wednesday, but only one person on board suffered minor injuries, a Kuwaiti news agency reported.

The helicopter was carrying Lieutenant General Mohammad Khaled Al-Khuder and his accompanying delegation, according to Kuwait News Agency or KUNA.

Heavy fog obscured the pilot's vision, causing the copter to have contact with trees prior to landing on the designated site, official news agency KUNA said citing a statement from the country's defence ministry.

The news agency's website published a picture showing the helicopter tilted forward on the ground with its tail snapped off.

According to a UNB report, the helicopter of Bangladesh Air Force 'MI-171' with 16 passengers on board made an emergency landing inside the camp of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Sreemangal Wednesday morning.

Contacted, Noor Islam, assistant director of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), said the helicopter of Bangladesh Air Force 'MI-171' with 16 passengers made the emergency landing inside the BGB camp, some 100-feet away from its designated helipad, in Sreemangal around 10:10 am due to technical glitches.

"Two pilots -- Wing Commander Omar and Flight Lieutenant Mehedi Hasan -- and all the 16 passengers came out from the helicopter safely after the emergency landing," he added.

The copter took off from Tejgaon in Dhaka at 09:20 am.
