All Party Muslim Unity Council convener Maulana Mohibullah and Member Secretary Tajuddin Faruk announced the six-point demand at a press conference at Bhola Press Club in the morning.
They demanded maximum penalty for 'Biplob Chandra Shuvo'. It was from his Facebook ID that derogatory messages about Allah and Prophet Muhammad (SM) were sent to some people. Locals burst in protest after screenshots of the messages went viral on Facebook.
The man insisted that his account was hacked. Police have already detained two suspected hackers.
The All Party Muslim Unity Council urged the government to enact a law with capital punishment for derogatory remarks about Allah and Prophet Muhammad (SM).
Four people were killed and at least 200 others were injured in a clash on Sunday in Borhanuddin.
The council also sought compensation for the families of the deceased and bearing medical expenses of the injured. They also called for releasing everyone arrested over Sunday's clashes.
Meanwhile, police filed a case over assault on law enforcers and murder. Four to five thousand people have been accused in the case, Borhanuddin Police Station OC Md Enamul Haque said.
In the morning, the local administration imposed an indefinite ban on public gathering in the district. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Masud Alam Siddique said the step was aimed at maintaining law and order.
Meanwhile, the district bus owners association stopped intra-district operation from 6am citing security reasons, its Organising Secretary Shafiqul Islam said.
Members of law enforcement and border guard troopers were patrolling the town to prevent any untoward incident.
Meanwhile a Chattogram report says: Hefajat-e-Islam will stage demonstrations across the country on Tuesday protesting 'the police firings' in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola that left four people dead and many others injured.
Hefajat secretary general Allama Junayed Babunagari announced the programme at a press conference at its Hathazari Madrasah head office on Monday.
It also called for proper investigation into the Facebook ID hacking incident and exemplary punishment to those involved in it.
The organisation also demanded the police officers who fired at and killed innocent people be brought to book.
It also demanded enactment of a law with death sentence for any defamatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and compensation for the families of those killed in the incident and medical expenses of the injured be borne by the government.
