March 06, 2019 00:00:00

Physicians in Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital are contemplating performing a bypass surgery on Roads and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, report agencies.

The Awami League general secretary is currently in a stable condition but was diagnosed with a combination of kidney and blood ailments, said Prof Abu Naser Rizvi of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University on Tuesday.

Quader is likely to undergo the bypass surgery once the ailments are brought under control, added Prof Rizvi, who has accompanied the Awami Leader to Singapore.

A medical board constituted with Dr Koh Siam Soon Philip, a senior consultant of cardiology department of the hospital, as its head examined him on Tuesday morning (BST) and briefed about the treatment.

Rizvi of the Neuromedicine department of BSMMU gave an update of the treatment for the media based on the briefing of the medical board.
