Eleven more 'drug traders' die in 'gunfights'

Eleven more suspected drug traders were killed in reported gunfights with the law enforcers early Sunday as anti-narcotics crackdown continues across the country, reports UNB.

According to reports, a total of 93 people were killed in 'gunfights' across the country since May 12.

In Cox's Bazar, listed drug trader Md Ekramul Haque, 46, councillor of ward number 03 in Teknaf Municipality, was killed in a reported gunfight in Noakhaliapara.

In Chattogram, suspected drug dealer Md Rihan Prakash, 27, son of Maliul Haque of the Golabaria area of Muradpur union in Sitakunda upazila, was killed in a 'gunfight' in the Guliakhali Sandwip ferry ghat area.

In Noakhali, Hasan Mia, son of Hanif Mia of Banoai village in Sonaimuri upazila, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in the Bogadia area.

In Chandpur, a 'gunfight' between a gang of drug peddlers and police left Selim Mia, 35, son of Salamatullah of Upadhi village, dead at Hazirdon in Matlab South upazila.

In Mymensingh, an unidentified drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with police in the Kewatkhali Morakhola area.

In Khulna, Abu Kalam was killed in a reported gunfight with police in the Barakpur Siddiqpasa Kheye ghat area of Dighalia upazila.

In Bagerhat, Mitul Biswas, 45, son of Khoka Biswas of Chingguri village in Chitalmari upazila, was killed in a 'gunfight' with a joint team of members of police and Detective Branch in an orchard in the village.

In Thakurgaon, Rafiqul Islam alias Taleban, 55, son of Liakat Ali of Bhornia village in Ranisankail upazila, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Miradangi area.

In Meherpur, Hafizul Islam Hafi, 45, son of shaheed freedom fighter Harez Uddin, was killed in a 'gunfight' between two groups of drug traders at Bathangari field in Garabaria village under Kathuli union of Gangni upazila.

In Jhenidah, Liton Molla, 35, son of Hakim Molla, resident of Sheikh Para village, was killed in 'gunfight' between two groups of drug traders in the Jamtola area of Shailkupa upazila.

In Kushtia, Halim Mandal, 35, son of Selim Mandal of Baria village in Sadar upazila, was killed in a 'gunfight' with police in housing 'D' block field area in the district town.
