Goods transport owners’ strike begins today

Goods transport owners and workers called on Saturday a countrywide indefinite strike from today (Sunday). Bangladesh Goods Transport Owners and Workers United Association called the strike to realise their seven-point demand including amendment to the recently-passed Road Transport Act-2018. Leaders of the association made the strike call at a rally at the city's Tejgaon truck stand. The leaders said they would not transport any kind of goods, even if they are life-saving medicines and foods, until their demands are met. Truck owners and workers' associations also expressed their solidarity with the leaders calling the strike.
