HSC exam pass rate rises to 73.93pc

The pass rate of the HSC and equivalent exams has risen to 73.93 per cent this year from 66.64 per cent a year ago, report agencies.

A total of 47,286 students achieved a GPA of 5.0, compared to 29,262 in 2018.

The results of this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations were published Wednesday.

This year's pass rate is 7.29 per cent higher than last year's rate.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially unveiled the results on Wednesday morning which was later published at a press briefing at the Education Ministry around noon.

A total of 9,88,172 candidates among 13,36,629 students cleared the tests.

The overall pass rate of the eight general education board is 71.85 per cent. For the madrasa board, the rate is 88.56 per cent. Meanwhile, 82.62 per cent vocational board candidates cleared the exams.

Among the successful students, 41,807 achieved the highest grade GPA 5 under eight general education boards while 2,243 under the Madrassah Education Board and 3,236 under the Technical and Vocational Education Board.

The number of institutions with hundred percent pass rate is 909.
