Hajj agreement with KSA on Jan 14

An agreement on this year's hajj will be signed between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia on January 14. The information came at the 31st meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Religious Affairs Ministry with its chairman Bazlul Haque Harun in the chair at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban Wednesday, said a press release. The meeting also recommended stern action against fraudulent hajj agencies so that they cannot send any pilgrim. — BSS

City building catches fire

A fire broke out in a residential building at Japan Garden City in the city's Mohammadpur area on Wednesday. Mizanur Rahman, duty officer of fire service and civil defence central control room, said the fire broke out on the fourth floor of house No 13 in Japan Garden City around 12:28pm. On information, three units of fire-fighters rushed in and doused the flames around 1pm. However, the origin of the fire could not be known yet and no casualties were reported. — UNB
