ACC starts graft probe against S K Sinha

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Iqbal Mahmood said on Wednesday the national anti-graft agency launched a probe into allegations of corruption and misuse of power raised against former Chief Justice (CJ) Surendra Kumar Sinha. "We launch the investigation. The FIR (first information report) of the case is coming, and we are going to appoint an investigation officer (IO) to this end. — BSS

BGB seized over Tk 715m goods, drugs in Sept

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods and contraband drugs worth over Tk 715.6 million in mostly frontier areas across the country in September. The seized narcotics included 14,54,390 yaba tablets, 8,108 bottles of foreign liquor, 916 litres of local liquor, 1,688 cans of beer, 24,179 bottles of phensidyl, 1,196 kg cannabis, 4.697 kg heroin, 2,84,874 sex-stimulating tablets and 6,48,090 other tablets. — BSS
