PM receives Indian Eastern Command memento

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received on Monday a replica presented by Indian Eastern Command on surrender of Pakistan Army in Dhaka on December 16, 1971. Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain handed over the replica to the prime minister. Commander of the Eastern Command Lieutenant General Abhay Krishna gave the replica to the minister at a reception at Fort William in Kolkata in December, 2017 marking the Victory Day of Bangladesh. — BSS

51,98,914 workers went abroad in nine yrs

Bangladesh has sent 51,98,914 male and female Bangladeshi workers from 2009 to 2017. Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam said this while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member Ali Azam of Bhola-2 in the Jatiya Sangsad on Monday. The minister said the ministry has taken various initiatives to create new job markets along with the existing ones. — BSS
