EC allocates poll symbols today

The Election Commission (EC) will allocate the electoral symbols to political parties and independent candidates for contesting the 11th parliamentary election as Sunday was the last day of withdrawal of candidature. A total of 39 registered political parties are taking part in polls slated for December 30. As per the schedule and RPO, the parties and alliances will have to send their final list of candidates to the concerned returning officers and a copy will have to be sent to the EC. — BSS

Call to maintain coordination in power sector

Mentioning that the power sector has seen a significant development due to better coordination between the two divisions of the Power and Energy Ministry, Prime Minister's Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury urged the officials concerned to maintain this coordination. Tawfiq Elahi said country's 92 per cent people have now access to electricity due to huge growth in the power sector. — UNB
