JS budget session

begins June 11

The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) will go into the budget session for 2019-20 fiscal on June 11. President Md Abdul Hamid summoned on Monday the parliament session. The budget session, which will be the third session of the current 11th parliament, will begin at 5.00 pm on the day. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal will place the national budget before the House while Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will chair it. — BSS

SC okays hearing on compensation to Jahalom

The Supreme Court has cleared the way for a hearing on compensation to Jahalom, a jute mill worker who was wrongly put behind bars for three years in a loan fraud case. The top court has turned down a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission, which means the case will proceed in the High Court Division. A panel of four judges led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order on Monday after hearing the petition filed by the ACC. — bdnews24.com
