DP World seeks to handle Ctg port terminals
The UAE-based port terminal handler DP World expressed its keenness to run Chittagong Port's New Mooring Container Terminal and Bay Terminal, officials said in the city on Wednesday. "They expressed the interest in the 4th Bangladesh-UAE Joint Commission meeting held in Abu Dhabi on February 5-6," an ERD official familiar with the process said. — BSS
Sylhet, Rangpur to get labour courts
The government plans to set up two labour courts-one in Sylhet and one in Rangpur, taking the number to nine, State Minister for Labour Md Mujibul Haque said on Wednesday. Haque spoke to the media after a meeting with a parliamentary delegation of the European Union at the Secretariat in Dhaka. "We are setting up two more labour courts to ensure justice for the workers," Haque said. The ministry also plans to re-designate the three labour courts, currently in Dhaka, to look after the legal affairs of workers in Narsingdi, Narayanganj and Gazipur. "A separate law for EPZ, in line with the international labour law, is underway," said Haque. — bdnews24.com
