HC refuses to accept writ over Shab-e-Barat date

The High Court once again refused to accept a petition seeking its directives to take necessary steps to fix the date of Shab-e-Barat on April 20. The HC bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order on Wednesday saying that there is no chance to make any confusion over the date of Shab-e-Barat. Earlier on Tuesday, the National Moon Sighting Committee reiterated that Shab-e-Barat will be observed in the country on April 21. — UNB

Man burns body of murdered wife to hide crime

Police have arrested a man on charges of strangling his wife to death before setting her body ablaze in the capital's South Mugda. The incident occurred in the area's Bank Colony on Wednesday morning, said Mugda Police OC Pranay Kumar Saha. The dead was identified as Hashi Begum, 27.
