Each division to have 100-bed cancer centre

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved on Tuesday a project involving Tk 23.88 billion to set up a 100-bed full-fledged cancer centre in each government medical college hospital in every divisional city. The project will be implemented by the Directorate General of Health Services by 2022. The project aims to reduce the dependence on foreign countries for cancer treatment and save foreign currency.— Agencies

Indonesian engineer dies at power station in city

An Indonesian engineer died in Dhaka at a power station of Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC) next to the central playground of Dhaka University. The victim has been identified as mechanical engineer Md Tawfiq, 45. The doctors at the Dhaka Medical College declared him dead around 9:30am on Tuesday when he was taken to the hospital. It was not immediately clear whether he died from electrocution or some other reasons. — bdnews24.com
