HC rejects writ on Article 70

The High Court rejected on Sunday the writ petition filed challenging the legality of Article 70 of the Constitution that allows cancellation of parliament membership for crossing the floor. The single HC bench of Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman passed the order saying that fundamental law of the Constitution cannot be cancelled, said petitioner Advocate Eunus Ali Akanda. Akanda also said he will again file a writ petition challenging the legality of Article 70 of the Constitution showing another ground. — UNB

Dhaka's air ranks one of worst

Dhaka has been ranked the fourth most polluted city with an index value of 195, different online news portals reported on Sunday citing US Air Quality Index (AQI). According to the reports, air quality of Dhaka has been rated one of the worst in the world. Nepal's capital Kathmandu topped the index as the most polluted city with a score of 208. Last year, Dhaka was ranked second on a global list of cities with worst air pollution, according to the reports. — FE Report
