63 Hajj agencies get show-cause notices

Ministry of Religious Affairs has served show-cause notices to 63 travel agencies for violating the national Hajj and umrah policy. An official said, "A total of 63 travel agencies have been served show-cause notices on September 23. The authorities concerned have asked the agencies to give their explanations within seven days." Actions will be taken against these travel agencies, if they fail to give satisfactory answer, he added. — BSS

Strike halts trading at Benapole for third day

The export-import activities between Bangladesh and India through Benapole land-port have remained suspended for the last three days following a strike enforced by Indian Truck Owners and Workers Federation. The federation has been protesting since Saturday last against the alleged charging of extra money by labourers at Bangladesh end of the Benapole border. A meeting among the port users of both sides ended inconclusively on Monday morning. — UNB
