Parliament passes BRDB Bill

Parliament on Monday passed the Bangladesh Rural Development Board Bill 2017 aimed at making the existing law more time-befitting one. Under the proposed law, a board will be constituted with the LGRD Minister as its Chairman and Secretary of the Ministry as its Vice-Chairman. The DGs of Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (Bard) and RDA, representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock and other organisations concerned will be its members. — UNB

4 die in Sylhet stone quarry

SYLHET, Feb 26: Four workers were killed and three others injured in a mudslide while they were extracting stones from a quarry in Bholaganj area of Companiganj upazila on Sunday night. Quoting locals, Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Companiganj Police Station, said the mud of the stone quarry collapsed on the workers while they were extracting stones by operating generator around 9:30pm. On information, police recovered the bodies of Ruhul Amin and Motibur around 11:30pm. — UNB
