Govt preparing for Bangabandhu-2 satellite launch

Bangladesh is preparing to launch its second commercial satellite Bangabandhu-2, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said. "We have started preparing for Bangabandhu-2 as it takes almost six years to make a satellite," she said during her question and answer session in parliament on Wednesday.

Plan to dig 108 wells at different gas fields

State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid said on Wednesday the government is putting a special emphasis on hydrocarbon exploration to ensure energy security. "As part of our strategy, we've taken a plan to dig 108 wells at different gas fields across the country," he said. He was addressing a stakeholder meeting organised by Chevron Bangladesh at Sonargaon Hotel in the city. The state minister said the government is also importing LNG and popularising the use of LPG as part of its strategy. — UNB
