FE Report

Finance minister AMA Muhith said on Tuesday there are little grievances over salary among the public servants, thanks to the national pay scale of 2015.

The minister said this at a meeting committee on the elimination of salary anomalies that handles such type of grievances after the implementation of new national pay scale.

The finance minister heads the committee.

The finance minister said the committee had received only four prayers regarding the national pay scale during the past two years.

He said: "To my mind, the committee will no more be functional as there are

now a few anomalies."

He said one prayer is to regard 2016 as the timescale, saying the government will not consider it.

He said there are some prayers to upgrade their job-classes from the third to the second class.

"Currently there is no class system in the bureaucracy any more, all are considered now grades," he said.

"So these are meaningless prayers."

He said they are already in higher grades who prayer for."

Responding to a question, Muhith said the monthly pay orders (MPOs) enlistment will begin from July next.

The government will soon bring new private educational institutions under the MPO facility but with some conditions, said the finance minister.

The minister, however, termed the movement of a section of school and college teachers of MPO-enlisted institutions over nationalising private education "bogus."

The government will not accept their demand as it follows a policy while nationalising educational institutions.
