Ten more die in anti-drug crackdown

Ten more suspected drug peddlers were killed in reported gunfights with law-enforcing agencies in eight districts on Saturday, reports UNB.

The casualties took the death toll to 82 as the anti-narcotics crackdown continued across the country.

The ten were killed on Saturday in Cumilla, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, Joypurhat, Chandpur, Pabna, Kurigram and Thakurgaon.

Besides, the police recovered a bullet-hit body of a 'drug peddler' from Barguna.

In Cumilla, two suspected drug traders Babul and Almas were killed in a reported gunfight with the police in the Bagra Ramchandapur area of Brahmanpara upazila around 2.00 am.

In Mymensingh, Shahjahan Miah, 30, was killed in a 'gunfight' with the detective branch of police at Athabari around 1:30am.

In Joypurhat, Rintu of Uttar Gopalpur village in Panchbibi upazila was killed in a 'gunfight' at Bhimpur village around 12:30am.

In Chandpur, suspected drug trader Bablu Ahmed, 42, was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Paragaon around 2:55am.

In Pabna, a listed drug trader was killed in gunfight with the police around 2.00 am.

In Dinajpur, Saddarul and Abdus Salam were killed in two gunfights with police and the RAB.

In Thakurgaon, Mobarak Hossain Kutti, 45, was killed in a gunfight with police in Paschim Begunbari union.

Son of late Safir Uddin of Chitchilarong village in Sadar upazila, he was accused in 15 drug cases,

In Kurigram, Ibrahim Ali, 34, was killed in a 'gunfight' with police.

Son of late Insaf Ali of Banshjani village of Bhurungamari upazila, he was accused in four drug cases.

In Barguna, the police recovered the bullet-hit body of suspected drug trader Sagir Khan from the Jakirtobok area in Sadar upazila around 5.00 am.
