'BCL cadres' attack DUCSU VP Nur

The DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and his fellow leaders were assaulted on Tuesday evening, allegedly by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Salimullah Muslim (SM) Hall unit. The BCL activists also threw eggs to them.

Bangladesh Student Federation (BSF) leader and Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) general secretary (GS) candidate Umme Habiba Benojir was also among the victims. She went to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after BCL's attack.

It happened while Nur and the leaders went to complain to the SM hall provost about beating up a DU student named Farid Hasan on Monday midnight. After about 45 minutes, SM hall Provost Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbubul Alam Joarder rescued them.

After that, DUCSU VP Nur and social welfare secretary Akhtar Hossain along with some leftist leaders and students went to the VC office and gathered there while the report was being filed.

Farid Hasan, a master's student of Urdu Department, was beaten up by BCL cadres of SM hall unit on Monday midnight, and he formally complained it to the DU proctor on Tuesday.

When Nur, Benojir and others went to the SM hall provost on Tuesday evening to complain about the matter, BCL leaders and activists assaulted them.

Benojir said, "After giving a complaint to the proctor, we came to the SM hall provost. During our exit the BCL cadres assaulted us in front of the hall gate by throwing eggs on us. At that time, VP Nur, Akhtar Hosain and his followers went to Farid's room, and BCL blocked him there."
