Businessmen of BD, Bhutan to talk trade cooperation Apr 12

Businessmen of Bangladesh and Bhutan will meet in the city on April 12 to discuss mutual cooperation in construction, power and energy, hospitality and tourism sectors.
The meeting will take place during the visit of Bhutanese Prime Minister Lotay Tshering to Bangladesh. He will arrive in Dhaka on April 12, accompanied by a 20-member business delegation.
On Sunday, Bhutanese Ambassador in Dhaka Sonam Tobden Rabgye said his country is highly interested in strengthening the trade relations with Bangladesh.
"Bhutan wants to enhance trade relations with Bangladesh," he said at a meeting with members of the board of directors of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) at its office in the city.
The Bhutanese prime minister along with the foreign minister and the health minister of his country will also hold a meeting with the private industry and investment adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the commerce minister and the state minister for power and energy on April 12, said the envoy.
Terming the trade relations between the two countries very strong, FBCCI senior-vice president Sheikh Fazle Fahim expressed his interest to take the bilateral relations to a new height.
FBCCI vice-president Md Muntakim Ashraf, its director Sujib Ranjan Das and secretary general Hussain Jamil also spoke at the meeting.
Bangladesh mainly exports agricultural products, ore, slag and ash, woven garments, plastics and plastic articles and pharmaceutical products to Bhutan and imports mineral products, vegetables products, iron and steel, textiles and textile articles.
Bangladesh exported goods worth US$ 3.72 million to Bhutan and imported products totalling $18.10 million in fiscal year 2018-19.
