Fifth Asia LPG Summit starts in city tomorrow

A two-day Asia LPG Summit 2018 will begin at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka tomorrow (Tuesday).

It is organized to increase awareness among the stakeholders by focusing on safety, sensible policies and infrastructure investment for ensuring sustainable growth for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) industry.

Some 250 companies, including 65 foreign ones, from 30 countries are attending the LPG summit.

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu is expected to inaugurate the opening ceremony of the programme.

World LPG Association (WLPGA), All Event Groups of Singapore and Global Event Management Services Ltd of Bangladesh are jointly organising the fifth edition of the exhibition. The organisers made the announcements at a press conference at National Press Club in the capital on Sunday.

Speaking at the press briefing, Managing Director of All Event Group Vincent Choy said demand for LPG has been growing tremendously in Bangladesh.

"The summit will create awareness among consumers, manufacturers and other stakeholders," he added.

The Asia LPG Summit has been instrumental in bringing together investors, global LPG players, government entities, NGOs and technology providers to help develop the LPG industry in Asia as well as in Bangladesh in a sustainable and safe manner.

Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources (MoPEMR) is the supporting partner of this global event.

Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on MoPEMR Md. Tajul Islam, Deputy Managing Director of WLPGA Michael Kelly, Director of WLPGA David Tyler, President of LPG Operators Association of Bangladesh (LOAB) Salman F Rahman, Vice President of LOAB Azam J Chowdhury, President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Md. Shaiful Islam (Mohiuddin), and Former Vice President of Bangladesh CNG Filling Station and Conversion Workshop Owners Association Mohammed Riayadh Ali will be present as special guests at the inaugural event of the summit.

State Minister for MoPEMR Nasrul Hamid will attend the closing ceremony of the summit.

Vice President of FBCCI Sheikh Fazle Fahim and Director of WLPGA David Tyler will be present as special guests in the closing ceremony. Global Event Management Services Ltd Head of Sales and Marketing Md. Mazharul Islam and Manager (Business Development) Md. Ikhtiar Hossain were present at the press conference.
