Mild cold wave may continue until mid Feb

Met office today predicted that the mild cold wave situation, which is sweeping over northern parts of the country, is likely to continue till February 15, reports BSS.

"The mild cold wave may linger over mid February. But the area of the cold situation may increase or decrease during the period," Abdur Rahman, a meteorologist at Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), told the news agency Thursday.

The current cold situation may up and down from mild to moderate cold wave during the period, he said, adding that there is no forecast of severe cold wave in the remaining parts of this winter.

The met office, in a press release, said on Thursday mild cold wave is sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Satkhira, Jessore and Chuadanga and it is likely to abate from some places by today morning.

Light to moderate fog may occur over the country during Thursday midnight to today morning while weather may remain dry over the country.

Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period.

Minimum temperature of the country was recorded Thursday 8.1 degrees celsius at Rajshahi and maximum temperature at 26.6 degrees celsius in Sitakunda of Chittagong division on the day.
