June 05, 2018 00:00:00

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Monday road digging works across the country will remain suspended for 15 days from June 08 to ensure smooth journeys for Eid holidaymakers, reports UNB.

The minister came up with the information while speaking at a views-exchange meeting held at the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) office in the city's Motijheel area.

People have been suffering a lot due to the digging work project taken by the city corporations and Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) in the capital.

Besides, the road renovation works in Gazipur and other parts of the country will remain suspended until June 21 to ease the Eid journeys, he added.

Besides, the Bangladesh Road Transport Authorities (BRTA) has been directed to take effective measures to stop plying of unfit vehicles and running vehicles on wrong sides, said Obaidul.
