CHATTOGRAM, Mar 19: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K M Nurul Huda said, "The attack on the motorcade carrying the polling materials was pre-planned. Despite the reason of the attack is yet to be known, but, we feared turmoil in hilly areas recently."

The CEC visited the Combined Military Hospital in Chattogram on Tuesday to see the condition of the persons who were injured in the Baghaichhari attack on Monday.

Later he talked to the journalists at Chattogram Circuit House.

He said, "There were adequate security measures during the movement of motorcade. There were law enforcers. But, the miscreants attacked the motorcade all on a sudden. We have already asked the law enforcement agencies to take necessary action in this regard."

Replying to a question the CEC further said, "There was no lack of security measures. There were policemen on the last vehicle. Policemen were also injured in the attack."
