Road accidents kill five in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 03: At least five persons were killed in two road accidents at Patiya and Sitakunda in the district on Sunday.

Traffic sergeant ABM Mizanur Rahman of Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway Police Station said four persons were killed and 10 others injured in a head-on collision between two buses at Bhaiyar Dighi area on the highway around 8:00 am.

Three persons died on the spot as a Cox's Bazar-bound bus of Soudia Paribahan hit a microbus coming to the city from Satkania upazila.

The injured were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where one of them succumbed to his injuries later.

The deceased were identified as Anwar Hossain (52), father of an employee of Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd, Mohammed Shahjahan (55), microbus driver Md Sakib (22) and his assistant Nazim Uddin (18).

Sakib died at CMCH hours after he was admitted to the hospital. Anwar Hossain and Shahjahan were residents of Padua village under Lohagara upazila. Sakib hailed from Purangarh village of Satkania upazila and Nazim from Balaghata village of Bandarban hill district.

Police said three bodies were kept at Patiya Upazila Health Complex while other was at the CMCH morgue.
