Sammilito Forum holds panel introduction meeting in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Mar 31: The Sammilito Forum held an introduction meeting for its panel contesting the upcoming election to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) at a hotel in the port city on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, candidates of the Sommilito Forum for nine posts in Chattogram have already been elected unopposed. The poll for remaining 26 posts of the BGMEA will be held on April 6.

The newly elected nine leaders are Mohammed Abdus Salam (Chittagong Asian Apparels), AM Chowdhury Selim ( Al Amin Garment), AM Mahabub Chowdhury (Arafat Fashion), Enamul Aziz Chowdhury (HK-TG Garment), Mohammed Atik (Arion Dresses), Khondakhar Belayet Hossain (Wool world Limited), Anjan Shekhor Das (Apollo Swing and Garment), Mohammed Musa (Madina Garment and Mohammed Miraj E Mostafa (Familytax BD Limited).

The panel introduction meeting of the Sommilito Forum was chaired by its Chattogram chapter president and Chairman of KDS Group Khalilur Rahman and moderated by BGMEA leader SM Abu Tayeb.

Among others, BGMEA president Siddikur Rahman, Managing Director of Mohammodi Group Dr Rubana Haque, former BGMEA presidents Anisur Rahman Sinha and Anwarul Alam Parvej and former Vice President of BGMEA Nasiruddin Chowdhury were also present at the meeting.

Khalilur Rahman said, "The BGMEA is leading the garment sector which contributed a lot to our economy. The new leadership that will be elected in next polls on April 6 next will work to resolve the prevailing crisis in the garment sector."

He also stressed the need for establishment of a garment village in Chattogram and said, "The new committee of BGMEA will play a key role in clearing the goods from Chattogram port and making the customs process easier."
