Mahila Parishad demands

FE Report | July 09, 2019 00:00:00

Bangladesh Mahila Parishad has expressed grave concern over the rising incidents of rape and sexual abuse against women and children, with a call for bold government measures to curb such crimes.

At a press conference on Monday, the Parishad also placed several demands, including an end to giving political shelter to sex offenders.

They called on the countrymen to come forward and work together to stop violence against women and children.

The women's rights body also demanded that administration act neutrally and judiciously in order to bring the culprits to book.

Parishad Chairman Ayesha Khanom and General Secretary Maleka Banu, among others, attended the press conference.
