Teen commits ‘suicide’ by jumping into city lake

A teenage girl has committed suicide by jumping into Dhaka's Dhanmondi lake after an altercation with her younger sister, police said, reports bdnews24.com.

The girl has been identified as 17-year-old Mosharat Khandaker Imi, an A-level student at the European Standard School.

She is the second eldest daughter of Qatar-based migrant worker Liakat Hossain Litu. The family lives at the Kaderabad Housing Society in city's Mohammadpur.

Two youths found her around 11am on Saturday night and rushed her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared her dead, said Md Akbar Hossain, sub-inspector of Dhanmondi Police Station.
