232 students get Duke of Edinburgh gold award

Students of different educational institutions who achieved Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award posing for photographs with the guests at the programme hosted by Alison Blake, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, at her residence in the city on Monday

The 6th gold award-giving ceremony under The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award was held on Monday.

Alison Blake, the British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, hosted the event at her residence in the city, says a press release.

On behalf of the High Commissioner, the Deputy High Commissioner Kanbar Hossein Bor presided over the ceremony and handed over the certificates to the awardees. The ceremony was lively with the presence of the chairman of the board of trustees of the DEA Foundation Bangladesh, Sayeeful Islam, along with members of the board of trustees and executive committee of The DEA Foundation Bangladesh, and other distinguished guests.

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award is a designed programme for developing the youths having an age group from 14 to 24. This programme acts as a discovery engine in building inner strength and sense to locate unthinkable measurement in self-development to achieve greatness and recognition.

This year the award went to 232 students of ABC International School, Bangladesh International Tutorial, Basirannesa High School, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Independent University Bangladesh, Ispahani Public School and College (Chattogram), Ispahani Public School and College (Cumilla), International School Dhaka, Jahangirnagar University, Maple Leaf International School, Metropolitan University, Mirzapur Cadet College, Open Award Centre, The Aga Khan School Dhaka, University of Dhaka, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh, who successfully accomplished all the required activities of gold level. Earlier on October 27, this year the awardees had to face a validation committee where they were evaluated to get green card for the gold award.
