40 Sundarbans robbers to surrender today

BAGERHAT, Jan 15 (UNB): Some 40 members of three more robber gangs active in the Sundarbans, including their ringleaders, are going to surrender to law enforcers today (Tuesday) in a bid to return to normal life.

They will surrender at the Rapid Action Battalion-8 office in Barisal in the presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan.

Rab sources said 'Baro Bhai Bahini', 'Bhai Bhai Bahini' and 'Sumon Bahini' will also hand over 40 local and foreign firearms and 1,000 bullets.

Rab-8 Company Commander Major Sohel Rana Prince said the forest robbers have decided to surrender as they want to return to a normal life.

Earlier, some 152 members of 14 robber gangs, including their kingpins, surrendered to the law enforcers and returned to normal life.
