ACC intensifies anti-graft monitoring

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has increased its monitoring activities against bribery and other grafts in government offices in the month of Ramadan and ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

In this connection, two separate enforcement teams of ACC paid sudden visits to Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh on Sunday, according to an ACC press release.

Coordinator of the ACC's enforcement units, ACC director general (admin) Munir Chowdhury said tendency of taking bribes increases in some government offices ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

To stop such crimes, the national anti-graft body has already increased its monitoring in different government departments and will lay traps to nab dishonest officials red-handed while receiving bribes.

ACC enforcement team paid a visit to BSTI to ensure transparency and preventing corruption in licencing to food manufacturers so that quality of food is carefully maintained, the press release added.
