ACC raids BRTA, BPDB, passport offices over graft allegations

FE Report | March 25, 2019 00:00:00

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted on Sunday three separate drives at BRTA office in Mirpur, BPDB office in Motijheel and Habiganj passport office over graft allegations.

Receiving allegations of graft in the process of vehicle registration, vehicle fitness and driving licence issuing, an ACC enforcement team raided Mirpur office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

The seven-member team led by ACC assistant director Ataur Rahman Sarker found evidence of irregularities and negligence in duty by some of the BRTA staffers.

Taking that into account, BRTA authority immediately issued transfer order to two Ansar personnel, a computer operator and an office assistant.

In the meantime, an ACC team led by its assistant director Sifat Uddin conducted a drive at Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) office in the city's Motijheel over allegation of irregularities in electric motor purchase.

During the drive, ACC came to know that only one company participated in the tender to deliver the electric motors and BPDB approved that company to deliver the products without scrutinising market price.
