The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday filed a case against two persons, including Faridur Rahman Khan, managing director of United Hospital Ltd, in connection with evasion of Tk214.4 million holding tax by the hospital during 2006-2011.

The other accused in the case is former commissioner (reserved seat-27) Rahima Begum, said ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

According to the first information report (FIR), ACC found that United Hospital had not paid its holding tax of Tk 214,426,993 since its inception in August 2006 until December, 2011.

The anti-graft watchdog charged Mr Khan and Mrs Begum, a member of Assessment Review Board (ARB) of undivided Dhaka City Corporation, with illegal facilitation of tax in favour of the hospital.

By doing so, the accused persons got benefitted illegally that harmed the city corporation financially.

ACC deputy director Mahbubur Rahman filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on the day under the sections 409/109 of the Penal Code and section 5(2) of the Corruption Prevention Act, 1947.
