CHITTAGONG, Jan 07: Ailing former parliament member and firebrand political orator Md Yusuf has been admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital today.

He had been bedridden for a long time at his village home in Rangunia of the district with multiple physical problems but none came to his help, neither from his old party CPB (Communist Party of Bangladesh) nor from the Awami League that nominated him for the Rangunia constituency in the 1991 general election.

It was only from the Facebook statuses of different persons including the local media people that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina learnt about his latest health condition today.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (general) of Chittagong Mohammad Mashooqur Rahman Sikder said the Prime Minister has instructed the

district administration to immediately take all necessary steps for treatment of the former lawmaker.

He said that on her instruction he rushed to the civil surgeon of Chittagong, informed him about it and requested the CS to promptly arrange treatment of the ailing leader.

Civil Surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddiqui went to the village home of Md Yusuf along with three physicians and two ambulances, enquired about

his health and had him admitted to the CMCH.

Siddiqui said a team of expert physicians has been formed to look after the ailing leader. The patient will be taken to Dhaka for better treatment, if necessary, at the advice of the expert team. Md Yusuf also survived a brain stroke in the past, the civil surgeon said.

Md Yusuf joined the Awami League from the CPB along with some other CPB leaders before 1991 general election.
