Bill in JS to give BMD a legal shape

A bill titled 'Abhawa Bill, 2018', first-ever legal framework in the country to deal with the issues relating to the meteorological activities, was placed in Parliament on Sunday, reports UNB.

Law Minister Anisul Huq placed the bill in the House and it was sent to the respective parliamentary standing committee for further examination. The committee was asked to submit its report within 30 days.

This bill aims to give the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) a legal shape.

The law has sorted the activities and services of the department, which mainly deals with the forecast of natural disasters and everyday weather patterns.
