Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal urged China on Monday to continue to persuade the Myanmar authorities to take back Rohingyas from Bangladesh, reports BSS.

"China has good relations with Myanmar and if China continues to persuade Myanmar, it would be possible to solve the Rohingya crisis peacefully and in a sustainable manner," Kamal told the news agency quoting Chinese Ambassador Zhang Zuo, who made a courtesy call on him at his ministry office here.

The minister said the forcibly displaced Rohingyas must go back to their homeland from Bangladesh.

The Chinese envoy reassured the minister that his country would continue to extend cooperation for quick repatriation of Rohingyas to the place of their origin in Myanmar, Kamal said.

He expected that the Rohingya crisis will be resolved in a sustainable manner.

"I also told the Chinese envoy that your country can play a vital role in raising the Rohingya issue before the international community aimed at putting pressure on Myanmar for quick repatriation of Rohingyas," he said.

During the meeting, different bilateral issues were discussed and the Chinese envoy appraised the Bangladesh government of its sincere efforts to maintain law and order, Kamal said.

The ambassador drew the attention of the minister to the One Belt One Road policy, which was adopted by China, he said.

Lauding the Bangladesh's development activities, the Chinese ambassador told him that Bangladesh has made an unprecedented development under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said the minister.

He said China is a good development partner of Bangladesh and it would always stand beside Bangladesh for mutual benefits of the two friendly countries.
