CHATTOGRAM, Jan 23: Principal of Chittagong College Md Abul Hassan has stressed the need for opening up all the four hostels of the college that have remained padlocked over the past three years.

The principal expressed the necessity at a view-exchange meeting on Qualitative Improvement of Education at the college auditorium on Tuesday.

Education Minister Dipu Moni, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hassan Chowdhury Nowfel and senior officials of the ministry attended the meeting.

Principal Abul Hassan said, "There are 700 seats in four hostels of the government college. Many poor students are receiving education in the institution coming from distant areas. They have to suffer a lot as they are not getting any hostel facilities. Considering these students' woes, the authorities should open up the hostels for their use."

There are more than 18,000 male and female students in the college. But there are only four hostels of total 700 seat capacity. Three of the hostels are for male students and the rest one is for female students.
